James W. Murray

James W. Murray in 2010 is completing his first three-year term on the Morris County Board of Chosen Freeholders. Murray is a lifelong Morris County resident who was elected to the board in November 2007 and began serving his three-year term in January 2008.

A professional engineer, Murray's resume includes work with the state of New York and the New Jersey Department of Transportation. He retired as Supervising Engineer after 35 years as a county government employee with the Morris County Department of Public Works.

Murray in 2010 is freeholder liaison to Administration and Finance, which includes the Treasurer’s Office, the County Administrator, the office of the County Clerk and the County Counsel. He is also freeholder liaison to the Morris County Heritage Commission, the Board of Elections and Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Morris County, and deputy liaison to the Morris County Department of Planning & Development, the Department of Human Services, the Municipal Utilities Authority and the Morris County Park Commission. Freeholder Murray is an alternate member of the Morris County Mosquito Commission and the Aviation Advisory Committee.

Murray resides in Chester with his wife, Lisa. They have four children and four grandchildren.
